Résumé : | Multifunctionality stands as an argument in the discussion about agricultural policies. In order to test its theoretical basis as proposed in the definition by OECD, we set up an empirical analysis of the simultaneous production of agricultural and environmental goods by agriculture, with the goal of revealing possible jointness and its sources. Using mathematical programming, we conducted a simulation of changes in Czech farmers'attitudes in the Landscape protected area of Bile Karpaty, towards agri-environmental contracts caused by the expected evolution of the economic environment resulting from the prospective accession of the Czech Republic to the EU. Two elementary groups of agreements have been distinguished, those which prescribe special management regimes on the existing permanent meadows and for which compliance was called production of biodiversity and those which encourage conversion of arable land into permanent meadows, called production of landscape. Observing the market behaviour of the farmers, the jointness due to an allocable fixed factor was identified in the production of beef and biodiversity, and the jointness due to a non-allocable factor was found to be present in the production of beef and landscape. The value of this information lies in its capacity to improve the efficiency of agricultural policy design and negotiation |
