Résumé : | New cities in Algeria are mainly housing lead. Researchers are interested in the daily problems of its inhabitants caused by the lack of infrastructure and facilities. Meanwhile, a new vision of planning, centered on sustainable urban development, has been emerged in the development plans and schemes of Algerian cities since the 2000s in order to have relatively independent new towns, characterized by urban compactness, mixity and diversity by introducing new concepts and designs. One of the proposed concepts called functions integration is technically very similar to the concept of urban multifunctional land use MLU which has not so far been applied to Algerian new cities. This paper assesses the innovative and relatively recent concept of multifunctionality in the new city of Sidi Abdellah in Algeria in order to contribute to the realization of a sustainable and multifunctional urban model. The article is using the evaluation parameters drawn from the literature review and previous scientific work on MLU, creating databases generated by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and based on an analytical grid that allows the transition from new cities to "sustainable" new cities in Algeria and worldwide. |
