Ten years after the classification of the Mediterranean diet of Chefchaouen as an intangible world heritage, what is the result? The expectations of Moroccan cultural heritage professionals have been above the current results, as several actions have been blocked, others have been definitively cancelled, while the small number of these actions to have been carried out were out of time, or are still sunning with flagrant delay. This is due to various administrative, financial and strategic constraints, namely the absence of a clear vision in terms of the management of this global intangible heritage, but also because of a relational problem between the various departments in guardianship and other local actors. How then to consider this question? Are there any prospects able to overcome the constraints, to promote the province of Chefchaouen as a tourist destination for the Mediterranean diet, or should other alternatives be sought?
This article, which constitutes a reflection on such a subject, presents the potentialities of this region which were used to found this file of classification as intangible world heritage. Then, it defines the different actors involved in the process of conserving this heritage during this decade. Then, he describes the constraints as well as some perspectives that seem deasible in the current context of Chefchaouen. |
