| Résumé : | This issue includes the study Production and exchange of virus-free plant propagating material in Mediterranean region promoted and coordinated by IAM-Bari. The implementation of this study was the logical continuation of the activities carried out in the framework of the former CIHEAM/DGI Plant Protection Research Network during the period 1995-1998. This study is organised in the following chapters: (i) presentation of activities; (ii) Mediterranean fruit tree industry: state of the art and challenges; (iii) certification programmes in the Mediterranean area: country reports; (iv) a common certification scheme for the region; (v) a project proposal for the sanitary improvement of Mediterranean fruit tree crops and to ensuire the food safety of local products. This publication was prepared thank to the collaboration of scientists and decision-makers from the Mediterranean countries who shared their knowledge and national experience in this study. We strongly hope that this publication could be useful for technicians and decision-makers involved in certification topics in the Ministries of Agriculture of Mediterranean countries |
