| Résumé : | This volume includes the technical and scientific papers presented in the Workshop on: Water Valuation and Cost Recovery Mechanisms in the Developing Countries of the Mediterranean Region organized by the CIHEAM/Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari with the partnership of the National Water Research Center/Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Cairo-Egypt as a part of the running activities of the Regional Action Programme RAP Water Resources Management (1998-2002), coordinated by Bari Institute and funded by the EU. The Workshop was held in Agadir, Morocco (15-17 June, 2002) as one of the activities included in the International Conference on Irrigation Water Policies: Micro and Macro Considerations organized by the Moroccan Government and other national and international institutions. The main objectives of this volume is to gather the policies already implemented in the developing countries of the Mediterranean concerning water valuation, cost recovery mechanismes, the major constraints, possible solutions as well as future strategies. The papers included in this Workshop gave an ample vision of the actual situation in most of the developing countries. We greatly hope that this publication as well as the conclusions and recommendations derived from this event will be useful to decision-makers, scientists and researchers involved in this crucial and complex issue which is now receiving major attention in most of the developing countries of the region due to the acute water scarcity conditions they are now challenging |
