Résumé : | Land degradation is a serious threat in Tunisia. That is why many strategies of soil and water conservation have been established since the 90s in many areas in the country such as Oued Sabaihia watershed, located at Zaghouen governorate. In this study we aim to check out whether there is impact of soil and water conservation amenities on farmers profit. Also, an analysis about the relationship between different socio-economic variables has been elaborated in order to give a better understanding on the overall rural circumstances. Then, we elaborated an analysis on farmers' opinions and implications in natural resource conservation and rural development actions according to farmers statements. To reach these objectives, we conducted a survey of 42 farmers. We found out that there is a relationship between gross margin and soil and water conservation facilities, as well as useful agricultural area and cultivation type. Furthermore, farmers seem to be aware about the role of conservation amenities. In fact, most of them declare that they approve conservation developments meant to improve soil condition and water resources availability. Soil consolidation through plantations and reforestation developments are also approved. Also, farmers are consent to increase fodder area (such as Sulla) and natural rangelands. Moreover, most of farmers encourage women activities related to plant distillation and traditional food agricultural by-products. |
