Résumé : | In a context of the need to transform the agricultural sector to a more resilient and sustainable one. As a part of the Naturellement Popcorn project led by Nataïs, the European leader of popcorn production with its several partners, a task was conducted at INRAE (via AGIR). The aim of INRAEs contribution in the project is to improve the farming practices of maize popcorn through an agro-ecological transition. The task aimed at implementing qualitative models predicting the damage caused by Fusarium wilt, corn bores and the associated mycotoxins on maize popcorn assisting the producers to evaluate and identify the parameters where they would act, thus, using the least possible inputs. Four models were developed by the use of IPSIM modeling (multi-attribute modelling) on DEXi software and Excel. The models represented damage caused by two Fusarium species, F. graminearum and F. verticilliodes, and the contamination of the two associated mycotoxins (DON and fumonisin). An evaluation was carried out on IPSIM-F. graminearum with an independent dataset of two consecutive years (2020 and 2021) of over 3500 data. The predictive quality of the model showed unsatisfactory results due to several reason for the moment. However, several improvements can be conducted on the models to be reliable and serve as a tool to design environmentally friendly systems using fewer inputs. |
