Résumé : | Pollination and pest control services, among the concepts of ecosystem services, are of great importance for sustainable agriculture and food security worldwide. This study highlights pollination services and their relationship with pest control services. However, the supply of pollination services is facing negative pressures due to various factors such as habitat loss, pesticide overuse, diseases, climate change, and agricultural intensification. Several measures have been developed at the public and private sector levels to address the problems of declining, inadequate pollination services. However, existing public policies seem to be inadequate to protect pollinator populations. This study aims to further investigate the importance of pollination services and biological control as an important determinant in farmers' decision-making process to reduce pesticide use by developing an analytical ecological-economic model with a theoretical approach. The ecological modeling considers the reproductive capacity of wild bees, pests, and natural enemies and the different effects of pesticide toxicity on their populations. |
