Résumé : | This review gathers literature about the dietary behaviours of adult migrants living in Europe and France. It focuses on the factors influencing the migrants food choices. The aim of the study is to map out the research found in Europe about how migration influences the dietary transitions and health outcomes among adult migrants. This study synthesizes available literature using the scoping review methodology to identify some of the key drivers of dietary change, including socioeconomic status, cultural adaptation, acculturation, and food environment challenges in the host countries. The findings indicated that the migrants usually made dietary transitions from nutrient-dense traditional diets toward more processed, calorie-dense foods that elevated their risk for non-communicable diseases, it also shows how migrants deal with acculturation, where some choose to have a westernized diet, and others hold on to their traditional foods and incorporate few westernized aspects in their diet. An understanding of this kind provides valuable insight into the dietary shifting to inform culturally sensitive public health policy and interventions that are supportive of healthier and more sustainable food behaviours among migrant populations. |
