Résumé : | The demand for more nutritious and sustainable food is projected to increase 50% by 2050, especially after the corona pandemic. Therefore, increasing productivity must align with sustainable environmental goals by replacing conventional practices by agroecological (AE) practices. The aim of this explanatory study is to understand consumer perception toward agroecological products in North Africa, and fill the literature gab by providing comprehensive data on the level of awareness, beside identifying different socio-economic aspects that effect on consumer willingness to pay for these products. Therefore, a questionnaire based-responses were collected randomly based on papulation census from four countries in North Africa. First Principal component analysis was conducted using SPSS program on the collected data for each country and for the whole dataset then multiple linear regression performed first to identify the most significant variables that effect on the different factors produced from PCA, and second to determine the significant variables that effect on the willingness to pay toward different products. The findings reviled that the significant identified factors are agroecological awareness and environmental concerns and, the variables related to these factors are proved to be more similar in Morrocco and Tunisia, but with slight differences compared to Egypt and Algeria. Moreover, these two factors are the stimulus for the WTP, beside educational level that proved to be the most important variable that enhance the consumer to pay a premium price for all the mentioned products in the study then come the age and the average monthly income. |
