📌 IFSA 2026, June 29 to July 3, 2025, Montpellier, France:
Under the overarching theme “Farming and Agri-Food Systems Dynamics: Facing Crises and Trade-Offs in Transition Pathways”, the conference will revisit current progress and debates in co-designing and advancing sustainable farming systems, with particular attention to how they confront crises, inform decisions across scales, and navigate the trade-offs and synergies shaping transition pathways and their impacts.

In the first step, we received ✅400 abstract contributions for IFSA 2026, reflecting the strong engagement of the international community.

IFSA 2026 will take place in Montpellier, France, and is organised by the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier (CIHEAM-Montpellier) from 29 June to 3 July 2026.

The conference is organised around four main themes:
✔️Theme 1: Transformative changes
✔️Theme 2: Landscape and communities
✔️Theme 3: Capacity development to support systemic change
✔️Theme 4: Food Production, Consumption, Food Landscape & WEFE Nexus

Bringing together an international and interdisciplinary community, the event will foster critical reflection and dialogue across research and practice.

The conference will be preceded by a PhD course.

La séance de séminaire du pôle Régulations s’est tenue le lundi 8 décembre, au CIHEAM Montpellier, réunissant chercheurs et participants autour de thématiques au cœur des enjeux méditerranéens.

Deux interventions ont rythmé la matinée.

• Georgios Kleftodimos a tout d’abord présenté une réflexion approfondie sur l’approche Nexus Eau-Énergie-Alimentation-Écosystèmes (WEFE). Il a exposé les outils de modélisation mobilisés dans le cadre du projet DIONYSUS, ainsi que leurs implications pour la gouvernance des systèmes agricoles en Méditerranée.
• Olivier Lepiller est ensuite intervenu pour analyser les dynamiques de participation et l’approche systémique liant eau, alimentation et agroécologie en Méditerranée et au Sénégal, à partir des travaux menés dans le cadre du projet MAHDIA.

Cette séance a permis d’alimenter les discussions scientifiques du pôle et d’ouvrir de nouvelles pistes de réflexion sur les interactions entre ressources, pratiques agricoles et gouvernance territoriale.

Le CIHEAM Montpellier a eu le plaisir d’accueillir récemment le directeur du CIHEAM Bari, Biagio Di Terlizzi, élu en juin 2025, accompagné de son équipe. La direction du CIHEAM Montpellier, entourée de plusieurs enseignants-chercheurs, a présenté les activités, projets en cours et axes stratégiques de l’Institut.

Cette rencontre institutionnelle a permis de renforcer les liens entre les deux instituts du CIHEAM, d’échanger sur les priorités scientifiques et pédagogiques communes et d’identifier de nouvelles perspectives de collaboration.

Un moment riche et constructif, illustrant la volonté partagée de consolider les synergies au sein du réseau CIHEAM au service de la recherche, de la formation et du développement durable en Méditerranée.
