Flagship initiatives such as BELIS, focusing on legumes, or NATAE, promoting agroecology in North Africa, demonstrate CIHEAM’s dedication to generating innovative solutions to combat climate change and address water and environmental pressures.
Strengthening Regional Resilience
Through projects such as SupMed, which enhances water resource management in Egypt and Lebanon; MEDIET, fostering sustainable and resilient food systems in the Mediterranean; and GRASS CEILING, promoting gender equality in rural and agricultural innovation systems, CIHEAM actively works to reduce inequalities and promote inclusive food systems.
A Vision for the Mediterranean
Through its ministerial meetings and strategic partnerships, CIHEAM remains a central platform for dialogue and regional cooperation. Topics addressed in 2023-2024 included food sovereignty, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic inclusion.
