ππ§ πππππ¦πππ« π-π, ππππ, high-level representatives from MED-Amin countries and key international partners met in Cairo for the ππ§π πππ-ππ¦π’π§ πππ«ππππ π’π πππππ’π§π , kindly hosted by the Agricultural Research Center - Egypt (ARC).
Discussions covered a broad and critical agenda, from recent grain market developments and national priorities, to concrete steps to strengthen preparedness and rapid-response mechanisms, tailored to regional specificities and national capabilities. Member countries reaffirmed the MED-Amin guidelines, and gave a clear mandate to advance a regional dashboard (including grain-quality information), strengthen public-private market information exchanges, and prepare pilot initiatives for quantitative harvest forecasting. The creation of thematic working groups was also endorsed to move these priorities forward.
As underlined by the MED-Amin Presidency (Albania): βAcross all sessions, one message was consistent: the Mediterranean region needs stronger coordination, more timely data, and shared tools to anticipate shocks and protect our food systemsβ.
The MED-Amin Secretariat warmly thanks the ARC and the Egyptian partners for hosting and facilitating this meeting. It also extends its sincere appreciation to member country representatives, partners (AMIS - Agriculture Market Information System, International Grains Council, European Commission Joint Research Centre & DG AGRI) and speakers (Eastern Africa Grain Council, North Africa Grain Council, The World Bank) for their valuable contributions to the success of this event.
