IFSA 2026 – Update

Please find the registration information and guidelines here: https://ifsa2026.sciencesconf.org/resource/page/id/14

Under the overarching theme “Farming and Agri-Food Systems Dynamics: Facing Crises and Trade-Offs in Transition Pathways”, the conference will revisit current progress and debates in co-designing and advancing sustainable farming systems, with particular attention to how they confront crises, inform decisions across scales, and navigate the trade-offs and synergies shaping transition pathways and their impacts.

In the first step, we received 400 abstract contributions for IFSA 2026, reflecting the strong engagement of the international community.

IFSA 2026 will take place in Montpellier, France, and is organised by the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier (CIHEAM-Montpellier) from 29 June to 3 July 2026.

The conference is organised around four main themes:

  • Theme 1: Transformative changes
  • Theme 2: Landscape and communities
  • Theme 3: Capacity development to support systemic change
  • Theme 4: Food Production, Consumption, Food Landscape & WEFE Nexus

Bringing together an international and interdisciplinary community, the event will foster critical reflection and dialogue across research and practice.

Full contributions (short papers) will be submitted by co-authors by December 31st, 2025 (deadline for short papers).

The conference will be preceded by a PhD course.

Stay tuned for next news.

12th MED-Amin Plenary Meeting Held in Thessaloniki

Posted on February 12, 2026

On February 10–11, 2026, National Focal Points from MED-Amin member countries, international partners, and representatives of the Greek grain sector gathered in Thessaloniki for the 12th MED-Amin Plenary Meeting, hosted by the Hellenic Ministry of Rural Development and Food and its Station of Cereal Control and Standardization.

Beyond discussions on the current global, Mediterranean, and national market situations, the meeting focused on three key priorities:

  • Deploying a Mediterranean grain market dashboard and strengthening cereal balance sheet statistics
  • Improving early production forecasts, particularly by reinforcing statistical information and developing robust quantitative methodologies
  • Enhancing data sharing on grain quality, trade, and regulatory frameworks

Over two days, exchanges were rich, constructive, and forward-looking. Participants shared expertise, aligned approaches, and identified concrete initiatives to improve methodologies, strengthen statistics, and advance collaboration through dedicated working groups.

The MED-Amin Secretariat extends its warmest thanks to the Hellenic Ministry of Rural Development and Food for its outstanding hosting, and to all member countries, partners, academics, and experts whose commitment and valuable contributions made this meeting particularly successful and impactful. The event also marked the handover of the MED-Amin Network Presidency to Greece, opening a new chapter for our cooperation.

Together, we move forward to strengthen transparency, knowledge, and resilience across Mediterranean grain markets.
