Shared Success: Retrospective of the Turkish delegation’s visit to Toulouse

Posted on January 23, 2024

A Turkish delegation of 22 women, including cooperative presidents and representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture and Social Affairs, visited the Toulouse region to learn more about the organization of agricultural and non-agricultural cooperatives in France. The participants came from 12 different Turkish provinces.

CIHEAM Montpellier was asked by the WomenCoop European project team to organize the program for this study tour, which followed similar visits to Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Running from December 12 to 17, 2023, their stay began with a visit to the Coopérative du Haricot Tarbais, followed by a varied program including Terra Alter Gascogne, Ethiquable, l’Union régionale des SCOP et SCIC Occitanie, Bien Commun, Coop’Action, Symbiosphère, Les Halles de la Cartoucherie and DivertCity. These visits provided an insight into the French cooperative model in terms of its structuring, operation, and values, an appreciation of the creativity and commitment of its players, and a chance to discover the diversity of existing initiatives. The whole experience created a genuine platform for learning and fruitful exchange for all concerned.

CIHEAM-Montpellier would like to thank all the participants and partners who contributed to the organization of this visit, including La Coopération Agricole Occitanie, la Fédération Régionale des Coopératives d’Utilisation de Matériel Agricole Occitanie,  la Coopérative “Les fermes de Figeac” and of course all the structures that welcomed them. Their commitment and availability, despite a busy end-of-year schedule, was an essential factor in the success of this stay.
