Climber project: workshop on ‘Promoting conservation agriculture: opportunities and challenges’

This workshop, which was held from October 17 to 18, 2024, gathered experts, researchers, and farmers from Morocco, providing a platform to validate the regions where the Climber initiative will continue its work, to identify farm types for each region, and to design practical scenarios for improving agricultural resilience under conservation agriculture practices. The discussions during this two-day event addressed the pressing challenges facing Moroccan agriculture, particularly regarding climate change adaptation, sustainable resource use, and financial constraints.

WP2 and 3 Workshop of the NATAE Project

The NATAE project held a WP2 and WP3 workshop from September 30 to October 2, 2024, at CIHEAM Montpellier. The workshop brought together Living Lab (LL) leaders and Work Package (WP) partners to discuss key project topics through structured sessions. These sessions covered progress on farm typologies, scenario development, and assessments using the DAHBSIM modeling chain, focusing on agroecological practices (AEP). Participants exchanged insights on modeling scenarios, shared data requirements, and outlined future strategies. The discussions led to the formulation of roadmaps for simulation assessments and methodologies for Replication Labs (RLs), enhancing collaboration and clarity on project outcomes.

CIHEAM Montpellier Hosts Balkan Universities for GIS Training as Part of Erasmus+ MIC Project

The CIHEAM Montpellier is delighted to welcome four Balkan universities from 23 to 27 September for a week-long training course on Geographic Information Systems (taught by Pr Tristan Berchoux) in the framework of the Erasmus+ MIC project. 27 participants are attending, from the Agricultural University of Tirana, the University Fan S. Noli of Korça, the European University of Tirana, and the University of Prishtina. This is an excellent opportunity to also discuss future areas of cooperation with the four partner institutions.

Visit of the President of the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) and Egyptian delegate to the CIHEAM Council Dr.Adel Abdelazeem Aboelyazeid ELAKHEDAR to CIHEAM Montpellier : Towards a Strengthened Collaboration

On September, 16th and 17th, CIHEAM Montpellier welcomed Dr Adel Abdelazeem Aboelyazeid ELAKHEDAR, President of the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) and Egyptian delegate to the CIHEAM Council. His visit provided an opportunity to present CIHEAM Montpellier’s activities in training, research, and cooperation, as well as to identify potential extensions and developments for the ongoing cooperation with ARC. The shared commitment to expanding this collaboration was formalized with the signing of a cooperation agreement.

His stay also allowed him to meet with CIRAD, Institut Agro Montpellier, and the INRAe center in Montpellier to explore further opportunities for cooperation between ARC, the largest institution for research in agriculture, food, and rural development on the African continent.
