“Beyond research and training projects, the CIHEAM Montpellier coordinates scientific and institutional cooperation networks in the Mediterranean.”
MED-Amin (Mediterranean Agricultural Market Information Network)
MED-Amin network was created in 2014 at the request of the Ministers of Agriculture of the 13 CIHEAM member countries, following the world food crises of 2008-2009, and 2011.
MED-Amin is a network for monitoring agricultural markets and food systems that contributes to Pillar 4 “Crises and resilience” of CAPMED 2025. MED-Amin focuses in particular on five cereals (soft wheat and durum wheat, barley, maize and rice) essential to the food security in the Mediterranean.
The MED-Amin network can be considered as a Mediterranean version of the international platform AMIS (Agricultural Market Information System), hosted by the FAO. MED-Amin specifically documents trends in the Mediterranean region and for the Mediterranean region, and facilitates dialogue between member countries on agricultural markets.
